Almost looks painted? But looking at the weakness of the devices, it maybe an acid dipped example. Either way it ruins collectable value for the coin.

One clue that it was done post strike is the large hit on Washington's cheek. A hit like that would have to be post strike but notice the bottom of the mark has the same appearance as the field and the rest of the bust. That means that whatever caused this finish had to have happened AFTER the mark was made. If the finish came first that hit would not have the finish.

These are two diff coins. The picture at first coin posted not mine, that was posted awhile back. The current pictures are mine (no strike to washingtons face) my coin looks exactly like original post. It is Just strange 2 coins same year, same state, same "post mint damage". When I found mine,i did some research and found this posting and I added to it.
