Here is an interesting one. I've had this coin since 2005. Lately I have been going over my silver coin collection to sort out the best ones to sell, and while taking a closer look at this half reale I noticed that there is clearly additional lettering under Carolus as well as an extra piece of ribbon on the left side of the King's image. I haven't seen this extra piece of ribbon on other reales. It appears that Carolus was re-punched over originally misaligned letters. Any thoughts? The lettering under Carolus may not show well in this photo seeing as it had to be resized.

to the Forum!

It appears, IMO, to be an obverse die clash with the reverse.

Wow. You may be right Moe. Good eyes! It does appear to be a die clash. The last photo seems to bear this out, especially the details within and away from the letter R.

Great coin!
I agree with the die clash.
