Has anyone come across the flaw on the lower part of the 3 before as in this 1943 50 cent? I cannot find any previous references to this and would like to hear any thoughts and theories as to the cause and rarity.
This one is relatively common... I've seen it several times.. pretty sure that in its later stage when the die crack to the hoof becomes more pronounced, Zoell called it a bell-hammer die crack/chip with a variety number FL444fo.
