Hello, I apologize in advance if I did not post correctly, I am a new user and followed the instructions as best I could. I greatly appreciate any assistance with information on a coal scrip that I believe has been in our family for 75 yrs? I am unsure how this coin was acquired. I attempted to attach pictures but file sizes are too big and I am unsure how to reduce size without quality. The front of the coin has "Blue Star Store Co. 25 with a shamrock pattern punched in bottom of the coin, it is a copper color. The back of the coin reads Master Metal Scrip Ingle-Scherlon Co. Dayton,O. The writing on the card that the coin is enclosed in Also says Blue Star Store Co. R-5 Whitesville,WV WV3013G25 Mintage 1,000. I question the mintage, could a coal scrip be limited to 1,000. Thank you in advance for assisting me.

For the pictures use 'tinypic' dot com and upload your image their, then select not default size but message board size 640*something. Then when it works it's magic, you will see several options for your new image, copy the option [img blah blah img] it should look similar. Then paste it in the reply box on here, and your image should show up. Any problems, let me know :).

http://nationalscripcollectors.org/...Amazing.html^that link mentions the scrip near the bottom of the page. http://tokencatalog.com/token_recor...eate_uid=470^That link has a catalogue number and if you join that site, it 'may' unlock more. I don't know if I'm stating the obvious but it's referenced as being used in 'Boone County', and these things were used as a payment method for a hard days work in a miners shop only? If that's been in the family for all those years, I'd keep forever to remind me of what my ancestors did for me. History in your hands. I think it is from 1930, I found a 10 scrip with matching markings aged for that time. Hope this helps for now, there are far more knowledgeable guys on this site then me.

As been stated it was used in the company store! as wage payment and change. why pay in money were the people could have a choice in where they bought food and such. with the scrip they had to pay the over priced cost for any item in the store. The store and mine were located in the area on the scrip. Google the store name, mine name and county you will find more information.
