Hi all. Have any of you ever seen a bar like this. It does say FINE SILVER but not purity or anything like that. The size looks to be comparable to that of 1oz. Please help.

Thanks

Well from what I can see the dates match up with the companies establishment, thus making 2000 the 60th anniversary. It would seem a highly odd bullion to counterfeit, however there are always those odd balls around. I've had and seen pocket watches inscribed fine silver that were silver of a high quality, and usually 999 silver is described as fine/pure silver. The eBayer has a good track record, however finding the actual piece elsewhere seems rather difficult. The most plausible reason would be any recipients kept hold of there ones. Also it is stamped PMP next to fine-silver, the first p being mirrored-I believe this to mean Precious Metal Product or even precision metal products?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coast_Capital_Savings Under history paragraph the company and establishment under that name is mentioned.

One thing I would say is if you want this as a curiosity piece I can understand. But I see the price going up too at least the normal base rate across ebay for bullion of that amount.

Overall as It seems an illusive piece I'd say it probably is 999 silver, but probably doesn't mean definitely. If it goes cheap, i'd take a gamble personally-but I wouldn't pay a normal bullion price myself. I'd prefer one of your maple leaf bullion coins :) I purchased one the other day. I really don't want to lead your decision on this, as I would feel guilty if it was counterfeit-but I'm inclined to think it's real 999 silver 1 oz IMHO.

If the weight, purity and the fact that it's silver aren't all stamped on the bar, I'd stay away from it. DYODD.

I would stay away. No one is going to sell you a real silver bar for less than spot. There are a ton of genuine stamped .999 bars from reputable dealers on the net and ebay, selling for pennies over spot. If it is just a silver bar you want, why even a chance on an "iffy" bar from an "iffy" seller ?
