I think this forum is awesome & am grateful to have the opportunity to be a part of it. This is my 1st time posting so I hope I'm posting this in the right place. Please move or delete it if not. I normally collect cents but my Grandmother gave me some silver coins, which included this odd 1923s Peace dollar. It seems odd to me b/c of the weak details on both sides, the reeding on the edge is different than the other Peace dollars she gave me & the weight is only 26.08 grams. Ive attached some pictures but please excuse the quality, I'm just starting to learn how to photograph coins. Please note, in the 3rd image the coin in question is the one on top. XF40 New Member United States 23 Posts	Posted 03/12/2014 10:21 pm Welcome! Nothing odd here, just a very well worn coin. Most likely someone carried this as a pocketpiece for many years. Perhaps your grandmother or grandfather kept this coin with them for years? In any case, it is a nice example of a really worn coin. Report this Post to the Staff

I was thinking that too but every time I look at it, I wonder why its thinner than the other Peace dollars she gave so tonight I decided to weigh it. Would being heavily worn impact the weight that much? It weighs .65 grams less than the others. Also, is that a normal weight difference for a coin of this size? Report this Post to the Staff
zxcccxz Pillar of the Community Canada 5417 Posts	Posted 03/12/2014 10:46 pm Looks right to me. And if the rims are heavily worn as you day they are them 26.04g is well within weight range.
