I am late getting into the 5 ounce America The Beautiful series..I have a US Mint subscription for the bullion versions coming out in 2014, which will be great...BUT..can someone explain to me the P-Mint "Collector" versions..I'm lost...with Silver Eagles, EVERYBODY(the public), can buy either MS or proof versions...I see NO listing on product schedule for the P-Mint "Proof" 5 OZ. ATB, and, surmise can ONLY be bought second market...if true, basically sucks...

To my knowledge there isn't a proof version. The subscription is for the uncirculated version which is the collectors version. The bullion version will not have the P mint mark. Hope this helps.

Thanks..it's the PCGS-NGC terminology that confuses me
PCGS--MS/PL/DMPL & SP
I can't remember the NGC designations for the 2 versions..
So, Oakie...does this mean the Bullion strikes are only available through dealers?

Correct you can only get bullion through the dealers. Just like the silver eagles.

The designations on the label are just end results of the coin basically. It's all coming from the same two versions. The pl and dmpl just happen during the process like they did with business strike Morgans. The sp is usually given to the ones that end up with a satin finish.

The billions are only available through dealers as the mint only directly sells the p versions

The Collector version with the P mint mark also has a vapor-blast finish, while the billion version has a coin-type of finish, but once in a while the bullion version comes out proof-like.
