I think we all agree that struck throughs decrease the value of key dates, but check out the nice RPD on this one.

Very bold repunching. This appears to be an S3. Snow gives it 2 stars. So, you think the strike through decreases the value of this variety?

minor strike throughs should decrease the value of any key date. key dates are sought after in problem free conditions - the better the condition of the coin (lack of strike throughs, lack of laminations), the better price they command.

The reason I asked is that on the slab the emphasis is on the strike through error and there is no mention of the variety and repunching. If you want to add value to the coin I think it should be the other way around. Even the seller makes no mention of the variety but advertises the error.

For me, the strike-through just degrades the appeal of this coin since LIBERTY is obscured, although 'technically' it appears to be around VF30.
The RPD has much more appeal than the error--I also think it matches a Snow-3. Someone might negotiate a good price for that one!

not sure how NGC submissions work, but maybe the submitter didn't pay for 'research', rather just to verify 'struck through'. the submitter's loss because the RPD on the slab might just move this coin at that price. However, as DVCollector pointed out, the strike through obfuscates details on the coin, making it less appealing.
