Hi everyone, I'm new to the world of old coins mostly buy new ones.
My father has some old coins that I am trying to value for him,the best is a 1915 canadian 25 cent that I took to ICCS for grading. They rated it ef-45, what I would like to know is a current price, from dealers or private sale, from some research it seems like about $1000 canadian? comments please.

It depends. Some people will say a midgrade coin is worth half the difference between the grades in question - in this case half between EF40 and AU50. Most people I'm familiar with, other than some retailers, never pay midpoint for a midgrade coin.

At market, you may get around $1k for it in an ICCS holder, or not - the market for high end coins is soft right now.

For insurance, I would pick the midpoint between EF40 and AU50 retail pricing. You have probably already found the websites that offer pricing on Canadian coins, or if not, a quick Google will reveal them to you.

If you net $800, you'd be doing good.
