Hey all, I managed to find a 2013 roll of 50 cent coins today! Just wondering what is the best way to preserve the coins and wrapping? As some of you may know, it is wrapped in paper. Not sure how this will interact/affect with the coins over time. Other notes: The colour printing on my wrap is a misaligned, not sure if this affects the value, but I like it. I plan on going to get the 2014 roll tomorrow. The RCM website has been absolutely useless, they "sold out" within half-an-hour of the release and is currently awaiting stock.

^^ if you are going to get some tubes from colonial acres, I'm pretty sure they have the 2014 rolls also, could combine shipping costs

Quote: Get them here ,i agree the mint is useless . Need to say, if everything as we have been told - these minted by RCM. Yes, agree, they fails sometime to distribute their own products. I remember myself in 2010 with 50c rolls... But in optimistic note, ask CC-Ottawa about Mint efficiency with 2013 50c rolls - the item finally was delivered @Silidifier: Thanks for hint. Actually I searched too for some storage for the special rolls, but wanted clear acrylic, and seems, nothing exists to fit perfectly these rolls. So, this tubes - do they fit for RCM "special wrapped rolls"?

Silveroid, these tubes do fit them (I least I think they do I cant remember what I used for mine ill have to check). They are meant for rolls still in plastic or paper. If you are looking for a clear tube then I would just get a loonie size tube and put the 50-cent roll in it. That's what I did for the farewell to the penny rolls. They fit perfect in a clear 5-cent size tube.

And that's why thought about something similar for 50c special roll. But... If I remember correctly, the tubes were for 5c US and not the Canadian, means, I just didn't find same type of tube for loonies.

Well, exactly what I thought: searched over internet (actually ebay and suppliers mainly) and found, that there are no clear tubes, created for Canadian 50cent roll (special wrap). The US one doesn't fit, cause the tube contains 20 coins, while roll - 25. Loonie - even smaller in half mm, than the 50c coin. But here, I think, I found perfect fit solution: on the air-tites.com, 1 oz. Gold Eagle Tube - 33mm (holds 20 coins). The dimensions will be more or less similar to wrapped 50c coins: Diameter: 32.70 mm Thickness: 2.87 mm URL: http://www.air-tites.com/square_coi...m#numis_tubewill order and try them.

Cool, yeah I looked after I posted also. Forgot that US Dollar tubes only hold 20 coins not 25. Interested to know how the air-tite tubes work

Now mine misstake: Wanted to order and saw last minute: I searched for the clear tubes, but these are not "clear". Might be the will provide the good fit, but not displayable at all. Started to search again, and here it is: Cap-TubeTM Model A (fits all "A" model Air-Tites) Measurements: 4.25" x 1.22" (107.95mm x 30.98mm) http://www.air-tites.com/cap-tube-coin-holders.htmThe width is good , but the depth is twice longer than required, but I think, the "plasic" here is soft and could be cut (I have same tube, but "H" size and will try). In bottom line - improvisations. So, the first one will be good for storage, and this could be as display too.

Thanks for the input everyone! I picked up my 2014 50c Roll today! For now I have them sealed tight in ziplock bags, and I store them in a plastic container. I think it will serve the purpose for now. I'm really tempted to buy another roll in a few weeks for the purpose of cracking open and sharing with friends!

If you are keeping them, use acid free unbleached paper. I would prefer clear acrylic screw cap coin tubes.
Do bank wrappers have acid free paper? I suspect not.
