In the process of updating my PCGS Ike dollar registry set, I discovered that they have added a 1971-D Type 2 Reverse to the checklist.

This now puts the COMPLETE VARIETY set at 43 coins. But I thought that the 1971-D Type 2 reverse Ike was the regular, non-friendly eagle variety, i.e., the regular version. Is this correct, or am I missing something here?

Here it is on my registry coin list:

Any thoughts on this? Could it be a mistake? I'm perplexed.

Well, never mind. It looks like PCGS corrected this on their site. But the new description has remained. I'm guessing that this "Type 2 Reverse" designation will start showing up on labels from here on out. If that's the case, then I'll have to get one. I might as well upgrade the coin too while I'm at it.

EDIT: So the complete variety set is back down to 42 coins, and I'm back at 92.86% completion. They also changed the description of the FEV. "Type 1" has now been added.

Here is the update on my list:

Interesting back-and-forth there.

Calling it Type 1 (although I prefer saying Variety 1) is accurate, since it was the original design.
