And does the answer to that question vary by when the album was manufactured?

So, I purchased a used 7070 over the internet based on a different thread about it on CCF. I received it today and it seems like it's missing a page but I'm not sure.

It has 4 pages:
Page 1: Half Cents, Large cents, Small cents
Page 2: Half Dimes, Nickels, Dimes
Page 3: Quarters Half Dollars,
Page 4: Half Dollars, Types of commemorative half dollars, Silver dollars

Now I understand the the Gold coin page is a optional page and I'm not looking for that, but a lot of 7070's I see (say danscoalbumstore.com) have 5 pages listed and the 5th page is Bicentennials and Modern Coinage which this doesn't have.

This one I have seems a little older. Some of the pages pretty much have the same coins, but the labeling of the names/dates of the coins is different from what I see on 7070's on the internet.

I'm also wondering if I'm missing a page because the biding feels a little loose, like there should be one more page there.

BUT, I'm not sure, because perhaps this album was made before 1976 when the Bicentennials came out and there was no Sackagewea's in modern coinage. It also might have been designed back then to be able to fit new pages to grow.

So, could I be missing a page, or is this just an older album from before the page existed?

Mine has the five pages plus the gold optional page.

Sounds like yours is missing the Bicentennial and Modern U.S. Coinage ( SBA $1 / Sacagawea / 50 State Commemorative Quarter / Commemorative Dollar and Silver American Eagle).

You probably have an older album.

Here is an 7070 with all six pages on the bay for reference or bid;

Hmm, I just saw some vintage 7070's on the internet. Here is the Vintage 7070's 5th page:
How-Many-Pages-Should-There-Be-In-A-Dansco-7070?

Here is what more recent 7070's show on their 5th page:

Either way, I really I am missing a page now. Who knows, perhaps it's a really REALLY old 7070. Anyone know what they started selling these things?

Mine came with the vintage page above (four coins). I bought the updated page from Wizard a few years ago (eight coins).

I do not recall who it was, but someone here has one with only three coins on that page (pre-SBA).

It would seem that your album was made before 1976.

I'd like to assume that it's pre-1976, but looking at the binding on it just screams out that there is ample room for a page in there. The whole album is a little floppy due to the missing page even though all the screws are fully screwed in.

I'm looking to contact the seller because even though it was described as used I don't think it's fair that it excluded to mention that it was missing a page or extremely old and not the same as current 7070's.

My five page album has room for a sixth (the gold page). I am sure the gold page was an option long before the modern page. If you look close, the modern pages is labeled as Page 6 in the photo you posted above, making the gold page the original page 5 in the design.

Yah I've seen Danco's page numbering on the newer models. On this older model no page numbering is used.

The point I was making is that the gold page existed before the modern page. Your four page album has slack to accommodate a fifth page for gold.

I cannot think of a reason why the bicentennial (or modern) page would be missing if had originally include it (page is really no good on its own).

Do your pages list the early coinage (half cent, large cent, and half dollar) as Turban Head, or the as Classic Head (half and large cents) and Capped Bust (half dollar)?

Yes, as does mine. By the time they updated the modern page from four coins to eight, they updated the lingo (and other things, like the font and overall text layout).

I really wish that the updated modern page was still available for you to purchase.

The seller is offering me the moderns page for $3 + shipping. I of course would want to clarify with him which version of the moderns page it is. I'll probably do it, but it irks me with his lack of description on what a used 7070 consists of when I purchased it. I might be off my rocker, but if someone says 7070, I take that to mean the current version of the 7070, not one from over 35 years ago.

In my opinion, if he is calling it a moderns page, it has to be the eight coin version. As you see in your photo, the original page makes no mention of modern coinage, only Bicentennial and SBA.

Most definitely should ask him how many openings it has before buying. If he says three or four, call him on it, because he probably (intentionally) left that page out of the album he sold!

I'm assuming he's probably just going to take the last page out of a different album and send it to me. Then the next person that buys a used 7070 from him will also be down the last page :| I really wish he was more clear on what exactly he's selling.

If there is even a bit of mis-trust in the seller, perhaps it is time to find a different dealer. This guy may be totally above board, but if you are having 2nd thoughts then best to move on. The beauty of the internet is you have so many options.

Normally, yes. But when it comes to the 7070, choices are few and far between.

Good point JBuck. I have been looking for one also for the past several weeks and don't like my options either. At the moment I am leaning towards the Intercept Sheild album. I already have one of those and find it to be of similar quality to a Danesco. A big selling point I find on Wizard is that the actually show each page of this Album so there are no surprises. They don't do that for most of the others but it does make me more comfortable.
