If this had happened anywhere else, I'd say it wasn't possible. However, I spent a great deal of time in Montana and with as laid back as they are there, I could see this happening. I can honestly say that it probably never occurred to the dealer to get any contact info. It is definitely a whole different world out there - and I don't mean that in a bad way.

Perhaps the poor man is dead, and the woman who owned the coins did not know what he had done with them. $11,000 lost. OUCH!

Really slack business pratice for such a large amount of money.

I leave coins at shops pretty frequently, so this story is not hard for me to believe. Luckily, I deal with the same group over and over, so 99.9% of the time, I get the material back in a relatively short amount of time.
