Raleigh Coin Club Hosts World War II Coinage Program During National Coin WeekThe Raleigh Coin Club (RCC) is continuing its annual series of educational programs in the local community as part of its 2014 National Coin Week activities. This year, the club will present "The Impact of World War II on
US coinage" at the Wake County North Regional Library in Raleigh.
The illustrated talk will explore the changes
US coins and currency underwent during the war years due to metal shortages and the potential for foreign invasion of US territory. The program will also present an overview of the foreign coinage struck by the US Mint between 1941 and 1945. The talks will be supplemented by a display of many of the coins and notes discussed.
The program is free and open to the general public. Attendees are welcome to bring their own coins and paper money from the era for discussion.
