Is there different grades to these type of holders? I have been buying the staple type and never really see any grades or different manufacturers to choose from. I have noticed the last couple of times that the mylar windows are not very clear in them. Some have just a very opaque general film on them that will not wipe off (coins look ok after they are put in them) but the last ones I got have spots on them almost like a water stain.

Thanks for any ideas you may have

There are different quality ones out there. I have seen them where the windows are cloudy and I have seen them where the cardboard is really thick.

There are different types and qualities but if you buy them from a reputable dealer or supplier they will be good enough for any coins you may have.

I bought a batch a while ago, they are great quality and pretty clear but for some reason(production complications?) One side of each flip would always have clusters of scrapes and holes. Other tan that I always use them.
Feel free to call me Will.

Mylar is inert and won't harm the coins, which PVC has the potential to do.

However. I have noticed that Mylar seems to be affected by humidity and a Mylar / cardboard 2x2 can stick to the inside of the pocket of a PVC album page.
Also, Mylar is not 100% perfect in preventing the deleterious effects of PVC in a PVC album pages blackening red unc bronze coins being affected over a period of years.

For this reason, I suggest that you get rid of ALL of your PVC album pages, and replace them with either museum quality Mylar or polypropylene album pages.

I know; most of my red unc bronze suffered before I made the change. I ended up re housing about 2,500 coins. I needed about 130 new album pages with 2x2 pockets, but the cost was well worth it.
Interestingly, they did not cost me that much more than PVC album pages.

I prefer the self-adhesive ones. Don't need to worry about stapling, provides an airtight seal and gives a cleaner look. A bit more expensive though.

Self adhesive or stapled: both are fine.
I even use self adhesive with the cover they come with over the glue, and staple them.

Unitrade has fine ones. They´re right behind the 401 if you´re ever in Terahno, easy to find.
