the mirror, especially to the left of the relief on the obverse, shows clean indication of having been wiped by something, most likely an old rag and water but overdone. I also see distinct hairlines on the reverse coming out of D(IM)E as well as a good amount of hairlines overall on the reverse, again, giving away that an abrasive rag of some sort was used to wipe away at the coin. Due to the thinner outer layer of silver sulfide not being dipped away as happens with cleaners, there was enough presence to allow for, as pointed out, a re-toning. However the hairlines remain as does the presence of the harder scrub on the obverse mirror.
Hence, a cleaned coin.
