Are they really worth such a high premium?

I have seen these 3 coins on ebay for such a long time now, it's has me wondering about the price of missing chrome.

Why haven't they been snapped up. Their missing the chrome for god sake!

What am I missing?

I never did understand that either, I have a 1953 with missing chrome and I just don't get how a damaged sub-standard coin could be worth anything.

People will ask any sort of ridiculous price for coin they deem "rare". We just have to be smart enough to deny them the satisfaction of selling it for that price.

Go ahead. Find a complete set of missing chromes, mules and hr included.......how about partial chrome........some on that list there are less than 5 known. If you do not like or understand errors, so be it. I don't like NCLT......so I don't go there.

If you collected 5-cent errors, which would include missing chrome plating on the planchets from 1944-45 and 1951-54, then you would be smart enough to know that finding a 1952, 1953 or 1954 5-cent missing chrome in mint state condition is a very tough coin to find. Those prices are probably negotiable, but expect to dig deep in the pockets to find those coins in similar grades elsewhere...
