This is a 1943 Aluminum French Franc I found in my grandmother's collection which she left to me. I found a French auction site which had a description and it sold for US$475.00. The way you can tell if it is the rare variety is if it is Missing the "B" in the upper left corner, to the left of the Axe blade. Just wanting to confirm that this is the rare variety.

The B on the left would be the mintmark.
There are two varieties of this coin without mintmark.
In 1943 they reduced the weight of this coin. The common version makes around 1.3 gr and is worth around 1 $.
Some coins have been minted with the heavy dies used before and are around 1.6 gr. They are very rare and expensive.

Maybe one addition; this coins has been minted at 3 different mints:
no mint mark: Paris
B: Beaumont-Le-Roger
C: Castelsarrasin

It looks like KM# 902.1- Aluminum- Without mint mark = struck at Paris mint.- Vichy French State issue. Both thick and thin planchets exist. Mintage = 205,564,000. In fine condition it is worth about 10 cents American, about $1.00 in X-Fine condition.
The 1942 issue without the LB to the right of the axe is worth alot thou.

I am French and I confirm what said maudry. If you have 1 Franc 1943 heavy francisque (1.60 g) it cost 300 euros in VF ($409). Rare to find in good condition, no specimen known in XF !
