But not sure what it is, very nice . the obverse is almost sculpted and is undercut, and has a 3-D like apperance

It is an interesting medal Jim. It seems unusual coming from the Illinois State Board of Agriculture. I wonder what the occasion was that would call for a medal like this to be struck. Civil war anniversary maybe?
