First Batch To NGC - Came Back Sooner Than Estimated

JimmyJames Valued Member United States 211 Posts	Posted 05/06/2014 9:53 pm I submitted my first batch of coins to NGC a few weeks ago. The coins got there on the 24th of April and were mailed back to me on the 2nd of May. They say it would take 12 business days, but the coins were only there for 6-7 business days. If you factor in shipping time, the whole process took 10-11 business days. Not bad! For what it's worth I submitted World coins to the regular service using the membership vouchers. This forum is mostly complaining, so I thought I'd post a positive story. One of my coins did come back with Details - Surface Hairlines. I knew there were some light hairlines, but I thought they might be light enough to pass since I have some graded coins with similar hairlines. It was a calculated risk. Had very good results with my ANACS submission a few months ago. mailman, PCGS has had 2 coins of mine since 4/30 also, so we're on the same schedule. Let's see who gets them first. JimmyJames Valued Member United States 211 Posts	Posted 05/13/2014 11:43 pm I took some quick photos of the 4 that graded. They didn't come out perfectly, but they show the coins well enough. Only coin graded with this date/mint mark. The denomination side is grade limiting with chatter and light marks. Came back a 63, which is about right for me. This is the finest coin of this type graded at NGC and the only one of this date. These coins have a really low cat value, but graded UNC coins are usually worth a fair bit more than their cat values these days. I wanted this slabbed for consistency in a set I am finishing. Came back a 63. I'm just happy it didn't get bodybagged. A very attractive coin. Came back at 63. It has some light yellow/blue toning around the edges. It is a very attractive coin in hand, so I was hoping it could maybe hit 64. It's really the chatter in the fields that detracts from it the most. This was the highest graded of the bunch at 65, but it is a middling grade for the NGC population. There are light scuff marks on the high points and a couple light marks which would keep it from hitting 66. Edited by JimmyJames 05/13/2014 11:54 pm Report this Post to the Staff
