Hi all,

Was browsing the bay and came across this..

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251522857993?ru=http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html%3F_sacat=0&_from=R40&_nkw=251522857993&_rdc=1

What is the general opinion? Plated or been buried near other metal? Not one I recognise in that size.

Thanks Ron. Bidding on it at the moment but was being reserved. It looks to have a good shape was just a little put off by the green on it.

This coin is fine gold...but...

Is not Celtic...
Is not ancient..
It's a gold fanam of the Indian princely states c. AD 1700's.
About 0.80 grams.

Yep, they're the kinds of coins that the hypers of uncleaned coins used to use to salt their uncleaned lots with, so that people would leave "I found gold!" feedback for them. The gold price has gone up too high for people to just give these things away, now.

Looks less like RED's but more like Anoob's....

I have one just like the one the seller is offering...I believe I paid $16...a few years ago...I believe this one is the Boar motif, I didn't really like it because they are super common and I have no other Gold to go with it. I consider myself a collector of Silver but I still like Bronze.

On RED's coin, right picture top line of characters, I read an arabic numeral date of either 1219AH or 1319AH. Which is roughly 1804 or 1901 by our calendar. I can't tell if the one arabic character is a 2 or a 3.

EDIT: I meant right picture not left picture. Fixed.
