Which Book For Colonial Currency? - Coin Community Forum

hesgut Pillar of the Community 1028 Posts	Posted 05/08/2014 4:47 pm I want to learn more about colonial currency. I am interested in both the history as well as pricing/valuation of such pieces. Is there a good resource for this. I couldn't really find anything good on the web. Everything I found is either incomplete or confusing. Report this Post to the Staff

hesgut Pillar of the Community 1028 Posts	Posted 05/08/2014 5:19 pm I looked into that and it does seam like a great resource, however I can't find a printing since the 2008 edition. I know form collecting large size notes, that prices have changed quite a bit since 2008. I may get the book anyway just for the history. It is also unfortunate that I can't seam to find it in anything other than hardcover. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Report this Post to the Staff

Shop around and get a good deal, I got mine a couple years ago for about $30.00. Also check out this site http://www.coins.nd.edu/ColCurrency/ It's a University of Notre Dame site with loads of photos and informational essays. I'll probably just take whatever price is quoted from the book and make a standard adjustment. Looking up heritage prices is fine for just one purchase here and there, but gets tedious if you are shopping around several items. Searching their database is technically straightforward, but isn't that user friendly IMO. Report this Post to the Staff
