Hi This is a 1955 D Nickel that I found in my change a couple of months ago. I never really looked at it close because when I found it I was not that into coins. I sat down today and took it out and it seems to have a D on the reverse side on the right side of the house. Sorry I could not get better pictures. My condo burnt down not to long ago and I have not had the time or money to buy a new camera. Anything you can let me know I would appreciate it. By the way I do not think there are any errors but just incase I wanted to post it. Just trying to learn anything about it. Thank you.

Nearly 74.5M nickels produced and when compared to the 1955 produced by the Philadelphia mint (a little over 8M), the most common of the two you can find in circulation. Finding a 1955 is a nice find. Check your mint mark to see if there is an RPM - here's are some links.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune - fires are no fun!! Good luck with the recovery effort.

That's where the mint mark was until 1968, when it was moved to the obverse of the coin dear the date.

This is a normally circulated 1955-D Jefferson nickel ... truly nothing special about it.

Well my loop went with my condo in the fire. I am trying to save as much as possible at the moment. So I'm not really to sure how to tell if there is an S under the D if it can not be seen with the naked eye. Also sorry I should of said I knew it was the mint mark from Denver. I have just never seen a mint mark where that 1 is placed. I am still pretty fresh to this but I do try to research each coin as much as possible before I post because I do not want to waste anyones time. I do greatly appreciate every comment everyone took time to write. Thank you
