I think this is quite a funny looking variety. Plus, it looks like eyes since they're both looking at the same direction Dates are a common place for these weird extra bits of metal or plating to appear

I didn't notice the extra metal on the 2 and 4, must have been focusing at the eyes too much I had a good look at the obverse and they seem to match too, both having one weak denticle just to the left of where the last A in Regina is pointing to.

And these were found several weeks apart, I guess quite a few of these "eyed" nickels were circulated here.
Those extra bits are called die markers, to show which dies struck the coin right?

I will try for better pics tomorrow, it was getting too dark for good pics so that was the best I could do.

Edit: the better pics are here!

Keep them together. Considering they're from the same 2 die's they've been in circulation for 10 years and you found them a few weeks apart, thats pretty cool.
No to the die markers.

I like to think that they are long lost siblings once again reunited. I would keep them together, it doesn't look like they want to be separated, since one followed the other to here

I wonder how many more of their brothers/sisters will be coming? I hope they don't have 2 million twins

Forgot to ask, what exactly are die markers then?
