F.A.O. has issued since 1965 hundreds of medals for various purposes including honouring famous women (Ceres medal) and famous men (Agricola medal) and various other types.
Thes medals have been issued in metals ranging from Aluminium through bronze and silver to gold.
At FAO we have examples of nearly all of these (except for the gold)and I have in my personal collection a number of the silver ones.
I thought you might like to see some of my personal FAO silver medals and perhaps show some of your's.
The portrait on the medal is of Princess Grace of Monaco (previously Grace Kelly the actress) whilst the coin you refer to portrays an artist's (Pietro Giampaoli)drawing of a renaissance period lady.
I do however agree with you that there is a striking similarity.
The 500 Lire bill of 1961, and the 500 Lire in silver are on my short list of soon to be desired and acquired acquisitions. The banknote is so pricey, but just lovely. I also need the Tiziano 20000 Lire in uncirculated(good luck)
