Cents : Indian Head, LWC, LMC, LSC. Nickels : V nickel, Indian Head, Jefferson. Dime : Seated Liberty, Barber, Winged Liberty, Roosevelt Quarter : Barber, Standing Liberty, Washington Half Dollar : Seated Liberty, Barber, Walking Liberty, Ben Franklin So here's the question, how much should a Shield nickel and a Seated Liberty quarter set me back?

Yeah this is certainly a low-ball set, I got the first 2 Seated coins for $19.50 and the Indian Head for $2.00. My LCS likes me so I hope they won't gouge me too much Edit: thanks for the links

If you don't care about grade you could probably get a Shield nickel for less than 20$

I have a lowball damaged 1870? Shield nickel that I bought for $1.25, so they can be had for cheap.

Great job at working on your type set! I picked up an 1853 Arrows and Rays Seated quarter in G-4 for about $18.00 a couple years ago, of course that was when silver was higher. I'm not sure about Shield nickels because I don't have one either...

Thanks for the replies all and yes I have no problem with LOW ball pieces If I could fill that page for under $20 I'd be over the moon, under $30, heck good enough I'll keep you all posted... I just took the page into my bank, the teller is a silver CRH-type too, so I have been telling her about my finds and purchases, the other teller said she had never seen some of the coins in the set (the older ones)

I had an idea on the early five cent hole, what about a half-disme? It would add silver but skip the Shield nickel but this is not exactly a '7070 in ms-65+' just a nice page of coins. So what is the general availability of half-disme's and what would a good price be in G-VG condition?

Seated half dimes in G-VG really shouldn't cost that much. I paid $12-15 each for a couple a few years back at a LCS. Capped Bust Half Dimes on the other hand get expensive fast, probably starting at $40 for a problem free G-4. I was looking at a 1835 VF-20 a few days ago and they wanted $90.

If $20-25 dollars is not out of the question a decent Shield nickel is doable. So might be other denominations. Maybe $40 or so for a nice quarter. I stumbled upon a nickel in that range with decent details (fine?). My acquisition of Seated examples has been "when they appeared and struck my fancy" I bought them. Just to have some type examples. Joe2007, Yes, Half Dimes are a good deal in that grade and price range. Of course, I went overboard on an 1837 first year of issue 'no stars' but kept it cheap for an 1838 'with stars' for $30. Fine+ ASLAN, I gave not the lowest prices but the lowest for better than good examples. You can easily spend less.

The search continues, I'm going to my LCS on Friday I'll post here if I get anything to fill the page. I was looking at a Maria Theresa Thaler they had and a few miniature St, Gaudens Replicas. So we shall see in 56 hours I still think I'd prefer the half-dime for this set.
