recently picked up this Septimius Serverus, not sure if it is the real deal or not but I liked it and it was only a couple of bucks. I also bought this Lipanoff repro of what I think is a posthumous issue of Aureus Usuerper, Double Sestertius. Please correct me if I am wrong on the latter, I would appreciate that.

You can also see the picks of the 15 coin lot I picked up earlier here. https://goccf.com/t/178930 Someone decided to lock that thread. There is also a bonus coin in there that I was given by one of my coin trading buddies.

Posthumous issue of the Aureus Usurper? I think you're meaning Postumus issued by the rebel Aureolus (I desperate plea for help from the Gallic emperor that went unanswered). Aureolus never issued any Aureii or Sestertii - if its a sestertius or double sestertius, it would have to have been issued by Postumus. It could also be an antoninianus blown up, but without pictures I wouldnt be able to say.

The Postumus is a (as said, fake) regular Sestertius (it has a laureatte bust not a radiate bust). Its copying LAETITIA AVG, one of the more common designs on large coins of Postumus, one which persisted through his reign (it seems the more interesting double sesterces came at the begining of his rule). I have a reduced double sestertius of the type somewhere as well as a dupondius.

The Septimius looks real enough and the reverse legend reads MARKIANOPOLIS.

For $1 I could not pass the Lipanoff up. It just looks cool and I want to put it in a bezel if I can find one to fit it. And thanks for the info Ben.
