The pic with the writing is upside down; the large central letter is an Armenian "M" and should look like a "U" with a tail.

My transliteration effort (from the Armenian alphabet) puts the legend as saying "erevani metropoliten" - which I assume means "City of Yerevan", the capital of modern Armenia.

So what is it? A token, most likely, but for what I'm not sure. If it's plastic, you'd think it'd be too flimsy for a transportation or parking token.

It is a subway token from Armenia. I have used similar plastic tokens in the subway in Kyiv, Ukraine. These are hard plastic and actually hold up pretty well.

Ah. I didn't even know Yerevan had a Metro.

Looks like my transliteration was fine, but my translation was off - the token actually says "Yerevan Metro".

The sword-wielding dude is David of Sasun, a local folk hero. The statue, situated outside the main railway station, has also featured on Armenian banknotes and commemorative coinage.

Chrycopaul's using an externally hosted pic website - photobucket. If they're busy, the pics might not show up. Right now, I can see the pics just fine.
