Monaco will issue:
- BU coinset with 1 cent - 2 euro at the end of 2014. Mintage will be just 8.000 pieces.
- about 1 milion 1 eurocoins for circulation.

- 10 euro 'Hercules' proof (limited to 3.000 pieces)

The 10 euro has been issued already and is now available.

Thanks for posting this!

New Spanish 1 and 2 euros to follow soon, no doubt, with the change of monarch - I wonder if they will also redesign the other coins, as Monaco did?

As there is a heir to the throne on his/her way (announced a few days ago, expected to ''arrive'' at the end of the year) there might be an addition to the program. Possibly a 2 Euro CC.

Intersting question regarding Spain. Don't know what they will do...

In case anybody wonders what Hercules has to do with Monaco :) the ancient settlement in that area was named after a Hercules temple (monoikos - "single building") and the port there, hence Portus Herculis Monoeci, or Herculis Monoeci Portus, in Latin.

As for future Spanish coins, according to current European Union law, "changes to the designs used for the national sides of regular coins may be made where the Head of State referred to on a coin changes" (see Regulation 566/2012 which amends Reg. 975/98). Since there is no reference to the king on the cent coins, only the 1 and 2 euro would be modified. However, the same law also says that design changes (regardless of who or what is depicted) can "be made once every 15 years". So if the Spanish government wanted to modify the 1/2/5 cent (Santiago de Compostela) and 10/20/50 cent (Miguel de Cervantes) designs, that should be possible now. But why would it want to do that?
