I was going through some links on NGC and came across this type set ranking link:

http://coins.www.collectors-society...&Ranking=all

I was totally blown away with the sets at the top of the rankings. For those trying to build the best type set, this will either discourage you or light a fire under your backside. Be forewarned before looking.

You should not get "discouraged" by these high ranking sets. Some of the sets, regardless of which ones they are, are really assembled by dealers or agents for clients. I am sure some were assembled for "investment" purposes. Unless you have very deep pockets as an individual, you will never be able to match them. That being said, I like the registries of both NGC & PCGS. They allow anyone to post their sets for others to see and appreciate. Whether your set is #1 or #400, it is still "your" set. No other like it. Most collectors appreciate the effort other collectors take in putting their sets together and enjoy viewing them. At least I do. Just my opinion.

A lot of those sets are lifetime achievements for people. It's suprising how much you can get done if you have 30 years to do it.

Wow... Check the PCGS top registry set for Trade dollars, too!

The jim oneal set is amazing because: most of his collection is PCGS. His very few NGC coins have a score above all of the other sets, even without the other coins!
