Valuation is a very subjective thing. It all depends on "who" the seller is, "where" it is being sold and most importantly who the buyers might be. In a place like Syria where many of these types of coins are found (given the current conditions) someone might be willing to take a few loaves of flat bread for it ! Likewise at a major coin show in a large city like New York, the supply of superior quality drachms will drive down the price. I personally remember when dealers would have bowls full of VF's at $40 ea. your pick ! This one is a bit beaten and worn and silver tends to grade lower than bronze does. We rather expect silver to be higher quality as it does not circulate as quickly as does bronze.
Yesterday someone posted a rather ordinary denarius of Trajan which seems to have sold for somewhere around $100. I was rather shocked by this so maybe I am out of touch with 'reality'. Personally I would put a price tag of $30-40 and no more ...... but what the heck do I know !
Someone somewhere will no doubt top that price by a few loaves of bread
