I just sit there on my bed and take a roll out, I push the coins out from the other end of the roll and they come out in a nice row, then I sort through each one with my fingers and put them back and do it again like 100 times. Very fun for a coin collector.

I get some coin rolls from the bank (usually pennies), and just search through them. I look for Wheats, Canadians, foreign coins, and the copper. Whenever I am finished looking through the rolls the put the coins in my Ryedale sorter and keep the copper.

First I check the ends of a roll if they're visible, I then open the roll and push or gently shake the coins out in a line and examine the sides for silver, 12 sided nickels, foreigns and anything that seems to stick out in color, size, or shape. Then I look at each one for dates and errors. Re roll the ones I don't want to keep, add as many as I took out. Close the roll and put it back in the box or group with an elastic band.

I unroll, search, keep the ones I want and throw the rest into a big bag to be taken to the coin counting machine at the bank. Pretty simple process.

Once a week, on Wednesdays (less busy then), I'll deposit the quarters I've searched into one bank, get $100 out of the ATM and go to another bank and get 10 rolls of quarters. I'll go through them with my kids at night, pulling out what we need for our collections. I'll rewrap them as we go, and they're ready for deposit the next week.

I like the magnifying glass push out move. Also cool that you re-roll on the spot. I've started doing that with nickels. Pennies are alot harder for me to hunt, less reward, and harder too see!

None of my banks have free coin counters, so it's up to me to get the coins back into the roll before bringing them back. I keep a small pile of coins on the side that I use to swap for anything I want to keep. Then I put all the rejects in a stack and re-roll them when I get to 20 stacks or so. That works for everything except: Cents: Since these typically have 5-10 coppers per roll, all the rejects just go into a bucket that I'm going to cash in for an Amazon gift card someday at a coinstar Halves: since there's only 20/roll, I put the rejects into a pile, sort them into a LONG stack, and just count 2 coins at a time until I hit $10.

Quote: Also cool that you re-roll on the spot. I've found that its easier to roll them just as soon as we've searched them. My kids like rolling up coins, so that helps as well. I have a roll of what I call "trading stock" coins just to replace what we've taken out.

I go through a roll, put it to the side.thats my "trading stock" when it gets low, instead of rolling the next roll, it goes to the stock pile..so on so on.. right now I cull out copper, 2009 coins, anything looks interesting

I kinda switch it up depending on what I search. With quarters I unroll them all first them side check first for silver then look through them for ATB Quarters. With pennies and nickels I unroll individually and search each coin date and take out the good ones. For dimes I just side search for silver and for halves I side search then look for proofs

With pennies, I take the noticeable zinc pennies out, and just slowly make my way sorting out the pile of coins.

I just dump the coins out of one roll and pick up a few. I sort through this and do it again.
