When I saw the picture of this one I thought the reverse was a lyre.

Closer inspection reveals that the squiggle is a serpent (I think). I have looked for serpents, altars, cista mysticas, and coming up empty all the time. Any suggestions as to what I should be searching for? Sellers pics, not had time to take my own yet.

Obverse may be Apollo. I think the reverse could be a lyre. Perhaps something like this?:

Correction to my last: reverse on the link is an altar...similar square format. The lyre would be a small device on obverse, I believe.

Bob you are a star. The right hand side of the lyre is worn making be believe the other side was a serpent.

oh cool, that's a neat coin. it looked familiar, the "lyre" is a "headdress of isis", I have a seleukid coin with on on the reverse (not a good one)..
