I'd say AU58 and well worth slabbing.A lot of these coins do have a flat spot on them and were minted this way but your looks to have a bit of wear/rubbing but the only way you'll know for sure is to get it slabbed

Okay now the hard question. What TPG, The Australian TPG has slabbed 35 Incused 50 cents. I know from reading some post on this forum that the local is looked down at.

The local TPG is not taken seriously by collectors from what I have seen.PCGS is well respected and would be your best option IMO

They only sell for $30 on ebay so won't it cost more to get it slabbed than the coin is worth? Here is some more pics

Its ALL in the image. This is the same coin images have been taken in different angles/lighting The ONLY way to truly grade these is "In Hand" Creative images Accurate images

Might still be worth slabbing with the prices the higher graded coins are fetching

I think you really have to be assured that the price of stabbing will be a small percentage of the total value of the coin. Some forum members may be able to suggest a percentage. I have been picking up PCGS slabbed pennies and threepences in the later years quite inexpensivley. These are still nice coins, but were graded low ms by PCGS. So, the original owners probably though that they were worth sending, but may not have been happy with the result, and ended up putting the coins on the market. The original owner would have made a loss on these, as the sale price did not cover the price of stabbing. If I go down that path, I think I will only get coins slabbed if the stabbing cost is about 5% of my anticipated coin value.

Quote: If I go down that path, I think I will only get coins slabbed if the stabbing cost is about 5% of my anticipated coin value . That would mean a decimal would have to be worth $400-$500 and a predecimal would need to be worth about $700+

I would be happy if it was worth the cost of slabbing but most of these sell for $30-$40.
