I picked up a dozen rolls of halfs today. I don't get this many so was excited to get a chance to search through them. When I picked up the first roll to start it fell apart on me. I went for another and then it was clear that these had already been searched. Do any of you do this re-roll trick? This is the first time I had seen this done.

why cut it open like that, all you need to do is unroll the end. The roll remains re-usable.

If all you are looking for is silver, getting a slice down the side to have a look is quick.

Quote: If all you are looking for is silver, getting a slice down the side to have a look is quick. Yes is is, much faster than any other method. I admit I have done that in the past. But when I return the rolls, the tellers have to unroll them and fill a %500 bag with loose coin to be shipped out, so I know for fact another hunter wouldn't get burnt.

Edge searcher went through that. Loomis rolls tend to rip as well, so maybe they didn't have a different roll to put them in?

There were a dozen of these, all the same. There is a bit of tape holding the sides together - right in the middle of the roll. You can see a finger print on the lower picture that is on the tape. I don't think this happened by a machine, it looks intentional. The rolled edges are somewhat thick, so appears that someone went at these rolls with a sharp knife as the cuts are too clean.

Loomis rolls don't open at one end like normal rolls do. That's what I meant. When I get loomis rolls, I always replace it with a new one.

The good news is that I am assembling a Kennedy album and I did manage to find a few that I did not already have as well as a few NiFC issues. On the down side I found no proofs or errors.

Moral of the story: if you see these kind of c-section rolls, run away. Run as fast as you can.

Maybe try to switch up to a different bank. It would bug me to know there's another hunter at my bank. I would try to stalk the bank and wait for his butt :P

My wife is a vault teller, almost every day they get customers asking for halves, nickels, etc... I have accounts at 5 different banks and CU's. They all receive requests weekly if not daily, for halves. All banks have hunters.
