Ben...you know so much more about these than I do that it's a bit daunting to offer up a grade, but I step in where angels might fear to tread.

I'd go VG-8 on this coin for the following reasons:

Obverse: Liberty is complete, but much of the hair detail is gone. The clasp on Liberty's shoulder is heavily worn and the stars are flattened and lacking center detail except for #13. The date, though, is very strong and there is surprising detail left in Liberty's drapery.

Reverse: Rim and lettering are merging, much of the feather detail is gone. Head and beak of eagle still complete in outline, as is most of the shield. The motto is nearly complete with only the lower leg of the "E" missing.

On both sides, most of the denticles are worn smooth.

From personal experience, I know how hard it is to fully capture the details of an F-12 bust half in a photograph, so it may be that, in hand, this coin would grade a bit higher...up to F-12.

Gotta love the busties!

I would say "F-12ish" is the optimistic version of my "net VG-10ish" so I'll compromise and use VGF11-ish.
