a new LCS just opened up 5 minutes away from me. My wife and I were going out to lunch a few days ago and spotted it. We were hungry so we ate first lol. After lunch I asked if they had any 90% silver and they said they just sold out - $150 face at 15x just 5 minutes ago Today I went in to see if they had some and they kind of rounded up a little from their display case. I got about $3 at 15x including an unc Franklin and a very nice (maybe PF68) proof 1964 quarter in a 2x2. I am very pleased at their price and that this shop is much closer to me than other LCS's. Is anyone else seeing premiums on 90% going down?

To be honest, my expectations for scrap are high, as I've always paid only melt and no more (He weighs the coins in from of you) at my local coin dealer for some time now. So I couldn`t really say as to how premiums are but a proof quarter and an unc Franklin for around melt sounds good .

At 15x is a very good deal. Add to that a proof and a unc that's a good score.
My local exchange sells $1,000 face for 16.8x.

There should be no premium on 90% unless it's BU or quality material. 15X is a good price for what you bought.

My LCS cant keep 90% in stock, and gets a 5-10% premium.

Well bought at 15x. Several of the major online bullion dealers are paying more than 15x. The premiums have gone up a little bit in the past several years as the price of silver has fallen. I think it was just several years back that the online bullion dealers were selling them at slightly below spot.

I always go for quality 90%, as I have posted here several times. I am proud of my stash, heavy on Franklins and Walkers in pretty good grades, some semi numis etc. To me it's a lot more fun than doing it this way than getting a random batch for a slightly better price. For the last year and a half though, I have usually not been able to get good quality for less than a 10% premium, with just a few exceptions. From my reading here, it seems that has been true for the majority here (but not all)
