I successfully won an auction that ended on Sunday and I paid immediately.

The seller is in eastern Europe so I expected that the coin would take a week or so to arrive.
However, late Monday, he sent a message saying he was on holiday and the package won't be sent till Saturday, 28 June.

Is the delay in posting a risk to me ?
If the item doesn't arrive how long do I have to complain to ebay ?

As it happens, I'm not going away before mid-July - my passport application is still held up but of course, I might have been, and if I had, I wouldn't have been at home to receive the parcel.

Should I provide this in the feedback ?

Yes, it is a risk. You have 45 days from Auction end to open a case. If the item takes longer you lose the right to open a case. If it's not priority shipping, the package will take 3 week to arrive, especially because it's from Eastern Europe. Unless you really want the item you may want to ask for a refund or immediate shipment.

Doesn't 45 days mean I can wait until 12 August to open the case ?

If so, I can afford to wait 4 weeks.

Does the case have to be opened and resolved within 45 days ?

Don't sweat it as long as they ship this Saturday. If the seller has not shipped by Monday the 30th, then open a case. I would not be worried being as you have valid communications with the seller.

Don't worry. You have enough time to open a case. The 45 days is to open the case, not about the resolution.
