I think Fugios are cool in all grades. Here's mine I picked up in 2005 via HA, in NGC MS-64 BN.

This is the one coin that I really want to add to my collection.
Problem is, they're quite pricey right now on ebay if you want anything that's in reasonable condition and still legible. The most worn-down coins are still several hundred dollars. Any tips or dealers on where I could obtain one at a sane price?

Awesome piece there, jimbucks! I'll ask my wife to get me one for Christmas ... Fat chance!

Fugios are always on my potential shopping list at shows. I'm not seeing any decent VG's under $200 these past few years. IMHO, that $125 value is well below what the OP's coin would bring; this, even if cleaned - yet, with VF details. Of course, better pics always help bring grades and valuations into focus, so my opinion may be off on this one.

Nice, jimbucks! Any thought to that 11-X being from the Bank of New York Hoard?

The keg of mint-state Fugios found in the vault of the Bank of New York in the 19th century wasn't formally evaluated until 1948. By then, 1,641 remained, of about 5,000 originally, the rest having passed out into collections. Of those 1641, 132 were this variety, 11-X. 11-X is R-4, so 76-200 believed extant in all grades, but, doing the math, you can estimate as many as 270 mint-state 11-X Fugios went out from the hoard. Even allowing for attrition, it's a good bet that an MS Fugio of this variety came from the Bank of New York.

It is probably a pretty fair bet that MOST MS Fugios are from the BONY hoard. The 5,000 MS pieces from the keg would represent almost 2% of the entire mintage.
