Here's a nice one but counterfeit. I wrote to the seller and told him and exactly how to tell it's counterfeit but he didn't write back and somebody bid. Too bad. 520 pounds

tokengord- Interesting! I'm sure that it has been covered a couple of times over in other threads, but would you be able to relay the main indicators of it being a counterfeit?

Hi Archraz
First the face of the king is wrong in particular the nose. Also note the copper core showing through the Sheffield plate silver on the high points.

Hi Gordon - Nice to see you here.

I wrote to the seller asking if I could have permission to use the photos of his coin to replace the Aa version that we have in the book. His coin is very high grade with only a few plate breaks all of which are small. But as you point out the entire design is incorrect.

rooneydog Don't hold your breath waiting for ebay to do anything. They have abandoned the Community Watch feature the EMRs and are using people with NO expertise to review auctions. I was also wondering why you posted the 1794 Potosi 8R? It is not a matching variety. Do you believe the coin is a counterfeit?
