I love the nice albums like the Dansco, but I wonder if it's too much for a collection of circulated nickels, dimes and quarters? Maybe I should just use the folders? What do others use? As I try and become a more serious collector, would a serious collector laugh at me if I pulled out a Harris Folder?

Personally, I would get the Dansco. Sure it's a few more dollars than a folder, but with an album you can see both sides of the coin, and not have to press the coin in with your fingers! But the choice is yours, and I don't see why a collector would laugh at you for your choice in coin storage. Have fun!

Even for worm circulated coins? I like the albums too, but wonder about the folder being worth more than the coins.

In that case, for low-value circulated coins the only benefit of the album is being able to see both sides of the coin. However important that is to you is your choice to make.

I thought the same thing about State and ATB Quarters but they sure look a lot better in a Dansco. If you can swing it I would go that route. You can pick up used ones sometimes cheaper because it doesn't seem as bad putting a $25 set of State Quarters in a $10 album rather than a $22 album.

Quote: but wonder about the folder being worth more than the coins. It is like buying a frame that is worth more than the painting. So? It's the presentation , not the worth of what you are presenting. I have many "prints" in my home in beautiful frames because they look great hanging on the walls. My son made a mixed media, pastels and paper collage in the 3rd grade, I loved it, thought it was nicer than half the things you see in galleries. I now have a 3rd grade art project sitting in a $150 frame in my office. If you are proud of your collection, then show it off !

I suggest album over a folder. Sometimes you can get a great deal at Hobby Lobby using their web site coupons. John1

Until I added the proofs, my Jefferson nickel album was worth more than the nickels in it. I was okay with it. It is really up to you, but do not feel like you have to justify an album. If you think you will like it better, go for it!

Thanks guys. I wanted an album, just wanted to hear others are as crazy as me. Good idea about a used folder. What's a LCS?
