that's a Cud, when the die that strikes the coins gets worn out it can develop cracks which in some cases lead to a piece of the die chipping off the edge. this is a fairly rare piece and basically the bigger the Cud the bigger the price tag, your Cud is smaller and I assume you would get in the $30 range for it. don't take my word for it though as it could be less or more.

if you look to the left side of the above website youll see a list, go to Cuds on US coins than go to small cents than go to 1984. it looks like your coin could either be a new discover or an earlier state(before more of the die chipped off) of one of these .CU-1c-1984-06 .CU-1c-1984-15 .CU-1c-1984-16

no problem, its why were here, also due the lack of pressure from a missing piece of the Die Cuds often have weak or missing devices on the opposite side of the coin.

Sorry ASLAN if my valuation was unrealistic, I'm not an expert with american error values. I was just trying to give the op some information and help.
I know it doesn't seam like much of a problem but all I was trying to do was help the op with their coin which is the entire point of this forum, not to make snide and sarcastic remarks. I said not to take my word for the value so please don't critisise me cause at least I contributed to the learning of a person who came to us for help.
And if you think my valuation is so wrong than why don't you give one of your own instead of commenting on mine and than walking away?
Apologies about this to the original poster.

no prob, its nice to have access to helpful info and individuals knowledgeable in the realms where most are not...ahhhh the joys of the internet, so I greatly appreciate your help with this coin dollarman. As far as value thats cool if its high or low.... I just like the weirdness/ rareness of the piece, I am definitely keeping in my collection and will now be keeping an eye out for coins with anomalies.......I'll post any and all I find

It's likely more in the 20$ range. Have sold a few I found myself in that ballpark that are similar. Nice find.
