So I stopped by my credit union yesterday, just to get cash for weekend shopping. I always ask for anything strange or large or half dollars. The lady was overjoyed to bring out 9 rolls of halves that she said she thought she would never get rid of! I heard the beautiful "ching" when she set them on the counter. I had to open one as I was driving home...... and almost crashed! Inside the roll was 11 40% and 2 90%! All together I got 57 40% and 16 90% with 11 being Franklins! I will have to wait a while to score like this again! If anyone else has a score story like this please share! I'm still all giddy about it!!

Congrats! It's shocking when you get the big score and almost seems like you are dreaming... A few weeks ago I got 4 rolls with 49 40% and 3 90%.. $26 out of $40... I've called over to that bank once a week since asking if they have any halves or large dollars and they haven't since. Although one time they told me they knew they had no large dollars bc someone had called right before asking. Timing is everything! Nice score!!!

My best ever on dimes was 4 silvers in a box of $250

I did get a 1964, 1964D, and 1965 in 10 rolls of half's back in January, but still no mega strike

keep looking

edit: 10 rolls, 100 dollars, I meant

The lady at the bank told me that a couple of weeks ago a person came in with 2 rolls of dollar coins, and in it was 2 peace dollars(by her description) and an 1893 Morgan(one teller yelled it across the desks)!! Their boos kept them and she said they sold them for $400..... That soured my mood a little but oh well, as you say, timing was everything!!

I kind of don't like that story about the bank manager that kept the coins she paid $40 for and sold them for $400. Kind of messed up

Timing is everything! It is a perk of the job being able to score on what walks through the door.

Nice find in today's over-crowded hunting world!

When I started again about six years ago, almost every roll held 40%. I would get solid silver rolls quite often. I once snared 26 solid rolls of wheat cents.

My wife's aunt, a bank mngr, ordered herself a box of halves and it was 3/4 full of silver coin. She tired of that quickly, ($12 silver), and only occasionally keeps coin she finds now.

My wife, a bank teller, used to score solid silver rolls over the counter. Once she brought home two rolls of solid "silver" pennies (all steelies).

Fist - hearing your stories makes me long for the days when silver was easy to find. Nonetheless the thrill of the hunt and never knowing what may come your way makes it all worthwhile.

CoinAddict, I know how you must of felt. I've told this story a couple of times in here. I got 5 rolls of Halves about 8 months back. Got in the car and opened the first roll and had 17 out of 20 coins in Silver!! I took out my iphone and filmed me opening the rest. I was flipping out. The next 4 rolls were SALTED!! ((Salted, means everything in the roll was Silver) A term me and a friend came up with.)) I was shaking I was so excited. I have picutres somewhere. I'll try and find them.

Anyways, Congrats on that score! That is what keeps me asking everytime I'm in a bank. Fo Sho!!
