Help Identify: 1693? Spanish Colonial Silver Cob

I am not a coin person, but in searching around, I think I have identified this as a 1693 Spanish Colonial Silver Cob. Please help me identify any other information regarding this coin, including where it was minted, what the marks on it mean, and an approximate value.

I took the photos on my phone when a friend of mine I was visiting in the mountains of Ecuador last week showed me that he had been holding on to this for something like 20 years. He's a local to the area, and I would like to help identify it for him.
