This is 30mm, copper or bronze.

On one side I can see poking through the uncountermarked bits on the other side GI and further along II or similar.

That's about the diameter of a Georgian halfpenny, i.e., GEORGIUS III. I'll go so far as to say the George is George III, and specifically, the Soho Mint Birmingham coinage, probably of 1807. Look just below the II and you'll see the top two leaves of George's laurel wreath...
