My grandma gifted these to me several years back but I never really looked at them, I just put them away. They were stored pretty poorly, some of them have rusted and I don't know if it was there from the start or was it from how I stored them. These denominations are worthless to spend now.

These are 10 and 5 Rupiah from 1979, all aluminium.

These are bigger coins from 1970, 1971 and 1974. I'm not sure what the 25 Rupiah is made of, maybe cupro-nickel, but the rest is aluminium.

1974 5 Rupiah coins. They appear tombac, I don't know why they made 2 versions of it in the same year. It's also smaller, about 3/4 of the aluminium one's diameter.

Here are the crown jewels, Nederlands Indische coins! The interesting thing is they are in coin orientation, Indonesian coins have medallic orientation. There are 1/4 Gulden from 1915, 1941 and 1945, 1 Gulden from 1943, and 2 1/2 Cent (sen?) from 1945. I'm sure the 1/4 Gulden is silver because it is whiter and I think the 1 Gulden is also silver (from its mass, you can feel it's denser just by picking it up) but I can't tell for sure due to its colour.

There is also a roll of what appears to be rusty 1/4 Gulden coins, but the amount of sellotape on it (and the fact that they look pretty bad) kind of puts me off.

The Indonesian coins are all fairly common, I'm afraid, worth a dollar or two at most even in uncirculated condition. They are, as you might imagine, very commonly found here in Australia in the "mixed world coin" buckets the coin dealers sometimes have.

The Netherlands East Indies 1/4 gulden and 1 gulden coins are indeed silver. Again, very commonly encountered here in Australia and commonly found amongst the souvenirs picked up by old soldiers from WWII. Not rare, but they will at least be worth their weight in silver.

I would say your collection probably has more sentimental value to you personally than it has monetary value.

The Netherlands made silver 1/10 and 1/4 Gulden (Guilder) coins for the East Indies.

The 1 Gulden silver coin is a straight European Netherlands coin.

Some of the Netherlands East Indies coins were made in San Francisco.

Sap, I kinda figured by now that if the coins aren't common then I wouldn't find them, just my luck A lot of these are very nice though, I think it's only seen very very little circulation. Maybe changed hands only once or twice. And yes, more sentimental than monetary value

I just looked up the selling prices locally, and they are equal than less than a dollar. I guess they're more desired by foreign collectors? I'm often surprised seeing the present circulating Kakatua Rp100 or the Melati Rp500 coin sell for $3-5 on ebay.
I imagine Indonesian coins would be common in Australia, I see a lot of Australians come to Indonesia.

willieboyd2, well I guess that's the reason I can't find anything about the 1 Gulden coin searching for Nederlands Indische coins. Some were minted in San Fransisco? Is there a difference to tell them apart?

I like the 2½ cent with the Arabic script on the reverse? minted in 1945. An historical oddity at the end of empire. I think that one is copper.

Yes it is copper, you could tell by tapping it because of its high ring. I'm sure it's arabic script, and I also don't know which one is the obverse and reverse of these coins. I'm assuming reverse. Among all the years of mintage, 1945 is the most common to find today.
