Just thought I'd show off to you guys 3 of the large silver coins I've aquired this year. While I'm at it, however, I decided to also ask you guys if you think they look authentic. I don't have real reason to ask, other than my inexperience with these coins, but with this new scale I just bought, I wanted to know if these weight discrepancies I'm getting are acceptable. I know if anybody would know, it would be you guys. Anyways, here they go:

Coin 1: (Mexican 1948 silver 5 peso)

optimum weight: 30g

Weight within tolerance considering wear, is OK
Compare for diameter and thickness and comparative ring tone if you can get access to equivalent known genuine coins. Without checking, I would expect that these tests should confirm.

I spent a bit of time online researching and making sure I got legitamate coins. I just wanted to check with you guys just in case I got fooled. The ring test checks out and I'm glad these seem to be real. With genuine coins in hard it will be a lot easier to buy more of these ones with confidence. They're just part of my collection that will comprise of as many 25g+ world silver coins from unique countries as possible. (circulated coins, excluding all commemoratives). I've got some from other countries such as England, Belgium, Panama, and Switzerland so far. It's definitely been fun so far, and I'm aiming to fill up with a lot more this year.

Derek, that's a great theme for a world collection. I've been pursuing a similar goal and trying to keep it 18th century and earlier. Have fun!
