If we're talking about the scratchtray scenario where all the coins are the same price, I doubt even know from memory which ones were the scarce dates. pick the highest grade one in the tray.
If there were a price difference, get the cheaper one, whichever that was. I'm mainly after an example of the type; future resale value is a very minor consideration for me.
I wouldn't go out of my way to get both. One of each type is sufficient for me. However, if I already had both (for example if I bought one, and was later given the other), keep them both.
