But the arms on it are the arms adopted by the Ottoman Empire shortly before its collapse (in the 1800s). My guess? Some kind of medal (hence the hole), maybe awarded to those who fought in World War I (because it looks quite "modern" and for the Ottoman Empire it didn't get any more modern than World War I). Sap Moderator Australia 16830 Posts	Posted 07/10/2014 8:16 pm Correct, it's an Ottoman Turkish war medal, missing it's loop and ribbon. Specifically, it's a Medal of Iftikhar, I believe. "Iftikhar" translates to "glory to be proud of". Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S.
