1940 nickel
Since I don't have one in my collection.. I'll keep this one until I find a better example.

Congratulations!
I come across more Pre-1959 nickels than any other denomination. Not many..... but still more than Wheaties or silver.

I believe it is because wheaties aren't made anymore and are made of copper, which some people hoard. Finding quarters or dimes before 65 when they were all silver is rare. Nickels often have some of the best finds in them because they were never really made with precious metals.

I like the old nickels myself. I am not real sure as to why I do this, but I keep every pre 1960 I find.

I just found a 1940 nickle from change this week also, but is very worn, AG, yours is much better, but its still a old coin. Since you hardly find much worth saving in change to brag about. Always hoping for a good one.

Very cool!! I work at a bank as a Teller and It is amazing how often I see 1939 Nickels! :P Very cool 1940 though, not as common as the 39's in my opinion!

Thanks, Trevor.
